Stable Spotlight - November 1996
by Deb Moore

Stable Spotlight is a new column that will be spotlighting breeding stallions and mares. Each column will be devoted to the breed speciality of that issue and members may submit one stallion and one mare per issue. This is where you can brag about your favorite breeding horse! Send write-ups to Deb Moore, 7079 E 25 South, Plainfield, IN 46168 or e-mail her at debm@netride.com.

We are going to go visit Chris Semon at October Moon Acres. Chris is first going to lead out her stallion, Could Care Less.

Could Care Less is by *Cariad out of Birkenhead Virginia who is by Curles Bright Star. He is a 1975 grey Section B Welsh Pony, a Breyer #3040 OF. He sports superb breeding tracing back to Gretton Sprightly, *Bowlder Brightlight and Coed Coch Glyndwr. He was bred by Three Pines Acres and Shadowhill Farms. He is available for free with a LSASE for 1977+ foals.

Chris's second horse to show us is her mare Davis's Dancing Shadow. Davis's Dancing Shadow is by Schuler's All American and out of Birkenhead Glenisla who is by Gwynedd Cavalier. She is a lovely 1971 dapple grey Section B Welsh Pony Mare. She is an unknown r/r/h. Chris says she has lovely breeding with lines to Criban's Cherry King, Farnley Sirius, and Criban Grand Master 2x. She was bred by Shadowhill Farms. She is open 1974-1977, 1979-1981, 19984-1988, and 1991-1996 for free with a LSASE. Thank you Chris, for sharing these two lovely Welsh Ponies with us.

Now let's go visit Lesli Kathman and see what she has to share with us. Her first horse is *Vean Zachariah. He is by Vean Zaffer and out of Vean Blue Jennykin by Pipit. He is a 1968 Dartmoor stallion, an Animal Artistry resin painted by Ann Harris. Like his famous real sire Zaffer, he is a rare dapple grey in a breed that is mostly bay or black. He is available for foals 1972-1992, and foals before 1975 must have British dams. The fee is free with a LSASE to IPABRA members.

For a change of pace, or should I say gait -- Lesli is going to show us her American Walking Pony mare, Ebony's Black Sable. A bay foaled in 1971, she is by the great Tennessee Walking Horse sire Ebony Masterpiece and out of the Welsh mare Twyford Gaiety. Sable was a consistent winner in the Mini Model Horse Association in the 1980s, where she eventually earned the title Showing Legend. Retired to the broodmare band, her gelded son Janx Sandpiper (by Nite Watch stallion Janx Spectral) would later win the same title. An inspection photo is required, and contact Lesli for years available.

Next, we move out West to visit with Daralyn Wallace of Starhold Farms.

First Daralyn will be bringing out her prize stallion Rum Tum Tugger. Rum Tum Tugger is by Starhold Elven Druid and out of Starwynde. He is a 1988 chestnut tobiano stallion and is a CM Animal Artistry (by Donna Chaney) British Riding Pony stallion mold reworked by Ann Harris and purchased in the 1995 NAMHSA auction. He's one of my all time favorite models! He is a live show winner in halter and a Champion in English Performance events. One of his greatest accomplishments was a 1996 NAN Top Ten in halter. He is available for 1990+ foals.

Now here comes Daralyn with Mairlod Fiania. Mairlod Fiania is by Seamair Eclipse and out of GlanNant Secret. She is a 1988 chestnut Section B Welsh Pony mare (13.2 hh.) with four socks, blaze, and flaxen mane and tail. She is an OF Discontinued Breyer Cantering Welsh Pony. She has champion real parents and is a full sister to the real stallion Mairlod Caerlyr. She is an exceptionally nice OF mold and should make an excellent broodmare. She has been winning in halter, huntseat pleasure, and has earned reserve championships and top ten awards in photo showing. She is NAN qualified. Contact Daralyn for years available.

The fees for Daralyn's two fine ponies are a photo for Get Of Sire/Produce Of Dam classes (preferred), 2 stamps, or if the breeding is done vie e-mail, the 2 stamp (per horse) fee is waivered.

Last we will travel back to the Midwest to visit my farm, Qwenquest Stables.

First out today is QS Valentino. QS Valentino is a 1989 bay with extended blanket Pony Of the Americas stallion. He was customized by Laurie Jo Jensen. He was sired by FV Glad All Over++ and out of FV We've Got Magic+. QS Valentino is a live show champion and has won a Top Ten in halter at the 1995 NAMHSA Nationals. His pedigree traces back to Appaloosa, Welsh, Shetland, and leopard Mustang breeding and includes many old time models. He is available to 1992+ foals. The fee is free with a LSASE to IPABRA members.

The Pony Of the Americas mare I would like to show you is QS Turbo Charge. QS Turbo Charge is a 1984 grey blanket Pony Of the Americas mare and is the OF H-R Mini Stamp model. She is by Siri's Silver Prince and out of Peach Joker, both of which are real. I haven't had time to trace her pedigree back too far but she does trace back to Joker B. The years available for her are 1987, 1989, and 1992+. The fee is free with a LSASE to IPABRA members.
